jim goodwin after victory over stranraer
The end result was very satisfying but in truth I didn’t think there was much between the teams, it was a very even game but I did feel on chances and opportunities in the second half we could have put the game to bed , PJ had one their keeper has made a great save from close range another one the ball got stuck under the wee mans feet when he might have squared to Andy Graham but in saying that Stranraer had one or two chances themselves and Neil Parry had to made a couple important saves, but overall it’s a great way to finish the 2nd quarter, albeit we missed the Arbroath game but that’s six wins in our last eight league games, I doubt there are not too many  teams around the country apart from Celtic who are carrying form like that at the moment, so we are really pleased, we have had five clean sheets in the last seven league games so there are lots of positives for us to take and I will certainly look forward to sitting down to Christmas dinner with the family.
Delighted for Ross Stewart to get up and running, scoring on his debut for the club, I did say during the week that people will look at his height and think he is coming in as a No. 9 target man but that is not the case. In the first half he was starved of possession but he came onto a game once he and PJ got onto the ball in the second half, we wanted to get PJ on the ball and I thought he was a threat all afternoon, Ross is good at taking the ball on the half turn and looks to go forward it is too easy to collect the ball and knock in backwards again, Ross wants to be positive and looks to go direct all the time he had a very good debut and delighted he was the match winner in the end.
The back four and our keeper deserve a lot of credit for another clean sheet but Garry Fleming and Stevie Hetherington are sitting just in front protecting them, we defend together and attack together, we changed our system going into the start of the second quarter by putting the two holding midfield players in and you can see the difference.
Great victory for the fans so they can go away and enjoy their Christmas now we have collected anther three league points.
