Reaction

The Wasps recorded an excellent 3-2 victory over Forfar Athletic on Saturday, but after losing a sloppy goal just before half-time the game changed in the second half when the visitors did well to come back from losing three goals inside the first 30 minutes of the game. Alloa Athletic played some great football in the first half and had they not lost a goal just on half-time they should have won the game more easily, than hanging on a bit and latterly Forfar could have snatched a point, which would have been a travesty brought on by sitting too deep in the second half. The side will need to learn to be more clinical but still an important three points before the International break.

First and foremost I am absolutely delighted to win the game, I thought the game was very open, we played really well in the first 44 minutes of the game and although maybe the 3 – 0 score line flattered us, but at that stage in the game we were playing really well but then losing a goal right on half-time made a massive difference on the game. Instead of the Alloa players going in at half-time in a positive frame of mind, this changed and their were negative talking about the goal they had just lost and I had to reassure them they still had a two goal advantage. However in the second half we started to get sucked in a bit deeper and protecting what we had, this gave far too much possession to Forfar Athletic, who grew in confidence, we still had chances but had to rely on two great saves from Stephen Robertson, the Forfar second goal was a great goal by Brian Deasley, but the main thing was to win today and collect another valuable three points, a magnificent three points especially with the break coming, a great game of football, I thought Forfar were excellent, Scott Allan was outstanding, but we had players on the park today who were also outstanding Kevin McDonald with his two goals and Mark Brown in defence, but if we can keep winning our home games we will not be far away. On the balance of the game Forfar could have taken something for their effort they came here and played really well but the sloppy goal we lost just before changed the game, had that not gone in the Alloa players would have been far more relaxed in the second half and it would have been more comfortable but a magnificent three points.
