No Christmas cheer for “The Wasps” as Brechin City clinch points to stay third in league in final home game of 2016.
The manager was devastated to lose this game having hoped to collect more than only two points out of last three matches all of which have been at home.
Both goals Alloa lost were poor, certainly decisions change games, the first goal when Brechin were awarded a penalty could have been deemed controversial but having got back into the game after having once again losing the first goal, it looked like “The Wasps” were on top and more likely to go on and get the winner, but Brechin City were handed an early Christmas present.
It was a horrible goal to lose when indecision between Neil Parry and Jason Marr allowed Ally Love to ghost in and score the winner.
jim goodwin reflects on defeat vs brechin city
Devastated with the result, I thought this was a game we could win but it was a big decision for the penalty, I thought Neil clearly won the ball, he palmed it away, everyone next to me thought the same, the linesman told me he did but push the ball away but then took the player out, it just baffles me sometimes that decisions against us have been very costly. Then we get ourselves back in the game score a decent goal and then you just can’t legislate for their winner. It was a terrible goal from our point of view. A lack of communication and concentration, whatever you want to call it, but we don’t get goals like that, we have to work very hard to get the goals that we score.
Today when we got it back to one each we were in the ascendancy and looked like the team who were going on to win the game then we gift them that, it baffles me, it then allowed Brechin City to get their shape back and get ten men behind the ball, they didn’t need to come out and I thought they defended reasonably well and didn’t give away much.
Very, very disappointed we need to do more going forward, we need to move the ball a bit quicker, we need to be sharper in our play and pick ourselves up.
