    Visitors from Norway

    Friday, October 14, 2011 5:04:01 PM

Eight Norwegian Alloa Athletic supporters will make their first ever visit to Recreation Park for tomorrow's game against Berwick Rangers. The group headed by Magnus Hatloy & Hjarteleg Helsing are making it a stag visit as the leader of the Alloa Athletic Norwegian Supporters Club is getting married soon, this seemed the best excuse ever to get to visit the club they have adopted to support. Chairman Mike Mulraney promised to welcome them to Recreation Park and give them a tour of stadium and an invitation to visit the boardroom, lets hope they can be lucky mascots for the team on the day and celebrate an Alloa Athletic victory.

Magnus Hatloy supplied details of the formation of the Alloa Athletic Norwegian Supporters Club which was covered in "The Sun" newspaper on 12th January, 2002.

Alloa Athletic have found a new band of followers hundreds of miles away in Norway - attracted by the WORST strips in Europe.

Two Norwegian students - Magnus Hatloy and Henrik Fjortoft - took a shine to the Wasps while playing the computergame Championship Manager. They formed the club on January 2, 2000 in the Norwegian West Coast town of Ulsteinvik and now have 25 members, including some from Oslo.
Magnus said: Our interest in Alloa started back in 1996 when we started to play with Alloa Athletic in the computer game. We chose to play with Alloa because they had the most bad looking strips, and because they were situated at the bottom of the Third Division at that time. It was great fun, and we built up a great affection for the team, so after a while we started to search for more information about the club. They came across a suppporters website and have continiued to keep in touch with Alloa’s fortunes ever since.
They decided to start a Norwegian Alloa Athletic Supporters Club and after a few months they had a total number of 30 members although it was down to 25. None of the members have been to see Alloa play yet, but some are hoping to visit Recreation Park.

This was written in The Sun in January 2002 I think, and now we are coming, really looking forward to see the lads win against Berwick!

Magnus went on: We are hoping we will get the chance to get over there some day when we have finished our studying here in Norway. We have thought about going to Scotland to live there for a while to get to know Alloa, the Scottish culture and the Scottish language better. But if that doesn”t happen then we at least hope to go there on a vacation to get to see the team play at Recreation Park. Tomorrow will see our dream come true!

    "Come on The Wasps".
