Disappointing game and result at Peterhead

    Sunday, August 31, 2008 4:45:00 PM

Alloa Athletic continued their disappointing start to the season by losing 1-0 at Peterhead on Saturday, in a game which was far from a classic. In a match of few chances, Stuart Anderson’s deflected shot off Chris Townsley was enough to give the Blue Toon a narrow victory in blustery conditions at Balmoor Stadium. John Grant did have a shot over the bar and keeper Michal Kula had to push over a Jamie Stevenson effort in the first half. The best chance of the game came eight minutes into the second half when ex Peterhead player Kyle MacAulay had a great chance to equalise at the back post but somehow managed to put his effort wide. After four league games “The Wasps” are still looking for their first victory in the league this season and the team will need to rediscover their desire to win games and regain a winning mentality. The highlight of the game for us was the introduction of young Greig Spence who came on to make his debut in the second half. Greig has been outstanding this season with our under 17’s and I have no doubt that he will make a big impact at the club over the next few years.
