    Three Goal Victory

    Alloa Athletic this evening took on a Queen of the South side who are currently rebuilding under new management team of Gus MacPherson and ex Wasp Andy Millen, Queens had been unbeaten in their previous three pre season friendlies - defeating Gretna 2008 5-1, drawing 2-2 against Queens Park and most recently defeating Clyde 3-1. This evenings closed door friendly was played as 3 x 30 minute sessions. The Wasps started very well, winning the opening session 2-0 after goals from a trialist and Graeme Holmes, In the second session Alloa introduced another four trialists, while Queen's manager introduced ex Alloa player now assistant manager at Dumfries, Andy Millen to the action, the session ended goaless, into the final 30 minute session and Alloa played a passing game, which at times was a joy to watch, the home side increased their lead when Graeme Holmes was on hand to score his third goal of the pre season. Player/manager Paul Hartley was delighted at the end of the game but again stressed that the performance counted more than the result, but was delighted with another clean sheet and three goals. After the game the manager secured the signing of ex Rangers youth player, Max Wright, a nineteen year old forward who has impressed in all the pre seasom matches.
