    Reasons to be cheerful

    Saturday, July 02, 2011 4:47:24 PM

Alloa Athletic today played their first pre season match against Stephen Pressley's Falkirk side, the game allowed new Alloa Athletic player/manager Paul Hartley a chance to see how his side is rebuilding with nine new signed players used during the game along with 12 trialists, all still looking to impress, Ross Philp, Ben Gordon and the manager himself were not included for this match. Although the result was not the most important feature in pre season matches, The Wasps did well and were unfortunate to go behind when Armand One knocked the ball past home keeper Scott Bain at the back post to give the visitors an early present after 28 min, three minutes later it was 2-0 when Kallum Higgingbotham scored and seven minutes before the interval the Falkirk french Trialist No. 9 scored an excellent third goal. At this stage Alloa were 3-0 behind in a game they had not played badly, however in the second period amidst numerous changes Alloa began to get rewards for their clever passing movements. Three minutes into the 2nd half Alloa's Iranian Trialist No. 11 scored with a shot from 30 yards which the visiting keeper should have did better with. Falkirk trialist - Tam McManus then showed he has not lost his knack of scoring goals by making it 4-1, however after one of the best passing moves of the game Graeme Holmes volled home to reduce the deficit to 4-2.
