    Hartley heads to Largs

    Friday, June 03, 2011 7:15:32 PM

Alloa Athletic player/manager Paul Hartley, will tomorrow, Saturday 4th June travel to Largs to begin a week long SFA Coaching course at the Sportscotland National Centre at Inverclyde, which he will attend until Sunday 12th June. This is the B Licence course or given its full title, The UEFA Basic Licence Introductory Course. Since returning from a short break in Portugal Paul has been trying to add to his back room and coaching staff. Paddy Connolly has joined as assistant manager, he brings a wealth of experience having given service to Dundee United, Airdrie, St. Johnstone, Morton, Ayr Utd, Stirling Albion, Brechin City and Albion Rovers as a player, while at Coatbridge he had been assistant manager to his brother in law, Paul Martin before work commitments saw him more recently being a scout for Fulham. Paul has also agreed to bring 47 year old Gordon Marshall to the club as the new Goalkeeping Coach. Gordon also has great experience in the game having been on books of Rangers, East Stirlingshire, East Fife, Falkirk, Celtic, Stoke City, St. Mirren, Kilmarnock, Motherwell and Hibs, but most recently at Perth with St. Johnstone as Goalkeeping Coach. On the playing front Paul is looking to rebuild virtually a full squad, with Ross Philp still the only signed player, however both Brown Ferguson and Mark Brown will be involved in pre season games but still have to prove to the new manager their fitness for a tough season ahead. At this time of the year there is always great speculation and rumour but until a player has signed a contract it will not be mentioned, however as soon as this takes place you will be able to keep up to date on the club official website. Paul today had talks with a new goalkeeper and hopes to conclude the deal over the weekend, but again he has reiterated that he will not be rushed into signing players just to build up the numbers but hopes to bring the right type of player to the club.
