Wasp Community Football Club are running a Girls Football Week starting Sunday 14th November, which is aimed at attracting new players into the sport. The week starts off with a Girls Fun Football Festival on Sunday 14th November at 12.45pm to 2.45pm which is open to age groups 6 - 12 years.

Director of Coaching for the Wasp Community Club, James Ward said "The whole emphasis on this festival day is on fun, fun, fun and is not just about footballing ability. No scores will be kept and no prizes except the enjoyment of taking part. This is a chance for girls to play football in a spirit of friendly competition without worrying about their skills level and everyone is welcome".

The festival is open to teams or individuals who want to play and is free of charge. The format will be 5 a side in a mini league of 10 minutes per game. There will be unlimited substitutions, so any team with a bigger squad will be able to give all their players a run out. Similarly any individuals who aren't part of a team can still register and be allocated a team to play with on the day.

At the end of the festival, all players taking part, and their parents/carers will be given FREE access to the Unite Women's Scottish Cup final between Hibs and Rangers at Recreation Park, kick off 3.15pm.

Also during the 5 aside festival there will be free Zumba taster sessions in the Wasp Centre main sports hall, which are open to all players and their carers to take part whilst waiting for their turn to play.

The Wasp Community Club is also looking to run a series of mini leagues and classes for girls after the festival all the way through December. If you might be interested in volunteering to help the girls section in any capacity please contact the Club
