    Prunty Double

    Saturday, January 16, 2010 2:49:05 PM

Alloa Athletic manager Allan Maitland arranged a bounce game today against Arthurlie, at Recreation Park, Alloa after the Scottish Football League match against Clyde at Broadwood was cancelled. The match today allowed the players to play on the surface at Recreation Park for the first time in 2010. Manager Allan Maitland included new signing Bryan Prunty in the forward line along with two other trialists in the squad. Athurlie were equally keen to play a match after the full Junior card fell victim to the weather, including ex Alloa Athletic players Joe Andrew and John Johnston in their line up. Alloa started very brightly with ex team mates at Airdrie, Bryan Prunty and Stuart Noble combining well. Alloa took the lead in 20 minutes after a great through ball by Andy Scott allowed Bryan Prunty to score his first goal for “The Wasps”. Eight minutes later Brown Ferguson volleyed home goal number two. The second half was far more equal after McClune, Buist, Walker & Ferguson were replaced at half-time by Townsley, McCafferty, Philp and Kerr. Athurlie’s top scorer this season pulled a goal back only one minute into the second half, in 65 minutes Bryan Prunty scored his second goal after a cross from Stuart Noble. Arthurlie never gave up and a John McLay rocket shot was saved by Steven Hall. Hugh Kerr was unfortunate not to get on the scoresheet when his free kick hit the crossbar and went over. Ex Wasp Joe Andrew then changed the game by making it 3-2 after 77 minutes and four minutes later after Craig Malcolm had been brought down by Stephen Hall, Joe Andrew was on hand to score the equaliser after referee Wes Boulstridge had awarded the visitors a penalty. After the match, manager Allan Maitland added to his squad by signing, left back James Bloom on loan from Falkirk. James Bloom is an 18 year old Welshman who began his career with Cardiff City and joined Falkirk at the start of this season.
