    Arbroath collect the points

    Monday, August 26, 2019 5:38:16 PM

Alloa Athletic looked to bounce back after the defeat at Cappielow a fortnight ago against an Arbroath side whom we had beaten earlier in the season in the Betfred Cup. However on this occasion Arbroath had certainly learned from that game and were worthy winners in such an important SPFL Championship fixture, gaining three very valuable league points.

Arbroath closed "The Wasps" down at every opportunity in a game Peter Grant's side struggled to find any creativity, they looked disjointed with passes going astray. Arbroath seemed more hungry on the day and we were second all over the park.

We are a far better side than we displayed on Saturday, however we needed to ask questions of the opposition as we didn't seriously test their keeper on the day.

Liam Buchanan effort goes into side netting.

Liam buchanan had Alloa's best effort on goal but his shot went into the side netting much to the relief of the travelling Arbroath fans. Stevie Hetherington became the second Alloa athletic player to see red this season after picking up his second booking after 77 minutes, last season we had only one red card all season.

In a game of few chances for "The Wasps" they might have had a late penalty when substitute Robert Thomson appeared to be pulled down inside the box but the referee was no convinced.
