Alloa Athletic manager Peter Grant was delighted today to secure the signature of twenty two year old Blair Malcolm who joined "The Wasps" having been tracked by other Championship and full-time clubs. Blair had started as a youth with Partick Thistle before joining Ross County in July 2016. However after only managing one first team appearance for the Dingwall club, Blair moved to Central Park with Cowdenbeath on loan to gain regular first team football where his attrtibutes and presence did not go unoticed.

Alloa manager Peter Grant said "Blair Malcolm is a player I had seen playing with Cowdenbeath last season in my time watching different games and I was always impressed with him, the thing which impressed me about him is the old cliché “He is a utility player” but it wasn’t that, I think he is a player who can play in different positions, but plays them really well and I think that is something we have been missing, we have a lot of good players but they all play in their same positions and can’t adjust their positions, if they have been a right back that’s where they play, equally if they were a left back that’s where they play but Blair is different in that he has fantastic energy, people will see that, he is a good size at six foot tall, technically decent on the ball which is important in the way we want to play but the fact he can play and cover different positions and play them well is the most important thing and a special ingredient he has, we welcome him to the Indodrill Stadium and he will go straight into the squad for tomorrow’s opening SPFL Championship fixture against Partick Thistle."
