    Youth Director Award

    Monday, June 08, 2009 4:39:39 PM

Alloa Athletic FC would like to congratulate Hugh McCann, Head of Youth Development at the club for having been awarded the highest achievable award in the SFA criteria for Youth football. The award is the 'Youth Director Award' and this has taken 16 months to achieve via the SFA involving training programmes, long term player development plans, physiology, psychology, talent ID etc. assignments. Furthermore there was a requirement to go visit a club abroad and investigate how they operated and produced young players. Hugh, was fortunate to be invited on a UEFA study group to Croatia where he was able to study both the national set ups and the NK Dinamo club organisation. This award is the highest achievable level in the current SFA set criteria for Youth and is a great honour for both Hugh and the club. Alloa Athletic’s Youth’s participate at age levels 14,15 and 16 within the SFA Youth initiative scheme, while the U17’s and U19’s compete in the SFL Pro Youth Leagues. The ongoing development of the youth set up is a vital component to the future of Alloa Athletic FC and this is recognized by first team manager Allan Maitland and the board of directors and seeing so many young players breaking into the first team squad is satisfying for the coaches, players and supporters alike. Well done Hugh.
