    Wasps on the road

    Saturday, July 01, 2017 4:29:45 PM

Manager Jim Goodwin accepted an invitation to face Celtic U20's at Lennoxtown today in a closed door friendly, this was a great opportunity for the manager to see his new faces in action along with the young development players who have stepped up into the first team squad for this season. It turned out to be a high scoring match in which the home side won 5 - 4.

Both sides took the opportunity in the match to make numerous changes, indeed Alloa manager Jim Goodwin used twenty players over the period of the ninety minute match, only captain Andy Graham & Stevie Hetherington played the full 90 minutes. Alloa's goals on the day were scored by Garry Fleming who scored a brace after coming on at half-time, Adam Martin who scored the goal of the game and certainly caught the eye, captain Andy Graham headed in Alloa's 4th goal of the match. Craig McDowall played in oal in the first half, while Andrew Wilson replaced him in the second half, indeed he saved a penalty, but unfortunately Celtic scored from the resulting corner.
