    Wasps ease to victory

    Saturday, June 25, 2016 3:42:16 PM

Alloa played hosts to Highland League side Fort William in their first ever fixture as they started their pre season action. Iain Flannigan was captain on this occasion with both Graeme Holmes and Jason Marr currently on holiday. The Wasps showed their intent right from the kick-off and were 3-0 ahead inside the first twenty minutes, Isaac Layne looked particularly sharp firstly gaining a penalty when he was fouled after catching the defence hesitating. Captain Iain Flannigan took the kick, although Isaac looked keen to step forward. Three minutes later it was 2-0 when Isaac Layne again burst into the box and fired confidently past the Fort William keeper. The third goal came after more Alloa pressure which resulted in another corner, Iain Flannigan's cross was met by Andy Graham, who knocked the ball home at the second attempt after the keeper had saved his first effort. Although Alloa debutant keeper Neil Parry was not troubled, the hosts did have an opportunity to pull a goal back when their striker Barna Tot broke clear but then blasted over the bar. Alloa could have increased their lead before the end of the first half, Jim Goodwin's header came back off the crossbar and another debutant, Jon Robertson struck a free kick, which came back off the post.

Alloa continued to press and attacked down both wings, creating numerous chances, but credit to Fort William and their keeper Douglas MacLennan who pulled off numerous saves to keep the score down. In the second half manager Jack Ross made five changes which had an effect on the game, giving him time to see other options before matches on Wednesday against Dunfermline Athletic & Dundee on Friday evening.
