Alloa Athletic manager Barry Smith was delighted today to confirm the first players who have agreed terms and re-signed for the start of the 2014-15 season in the SPFL Championship.

Graeme Holmes, experienced player who last season took his appearances to 114 first team appearances, plus four more from the bench, back for his fourth season with “The Wasps”.

Stephen Simmons, another experienced player and fans favourite who will start his third season with the club, has made 69 appearances plus three more from the bench.

Eddie Ferns, scorer of the Alloa 1878 Supporters Club goal of the season for his great solo effort in 3-0 victory over Falkirk, a result which helped achieve consolidation in the SPFL Championship for next season, great impact player who can win games with direct running and pace, three goals last season.

Craig McDowall, Goalkeeper who is still only 23 years old, has been kept on bench in past due to the exceptional form of Scott Bain, however when called upon has looked very capable when opportunity has arisen.

Mikey Couser, Goalkeeper who has progressed from Under 19 side and Reserve side, highly rated 19 year old who last season spent time on loan to Burntisland Shipyard to give him first team experience, will be looking to be involved more in first team squad for forthcoming season.

The rebuilding process is now underway with these being the first five players who have re-signed for next season, over the next few days the manager hopes some other of the players who helped the club look forward to such an exciting season ahead will also put pen to paper.

This way forward, looking forward to next season
