    Wednesday, April 30, 2014 5:33:31 PM
On Monday night at the Excelsior Stadium, Airdrie,  a young Alloa Athletic reserve side took on this seasons first ever SPFL Reserve League Champions Queen's Park in the Reserve League Cup semi final. Although the young Wasps eventually lost the game 1-0 to a Thomas Collins goal for "The Strollers" after 23 minutes, the young Wasps under the guidance of coach Mark Wilson gave a very good account of themselves and could feel unlucky not to score on the evening. Lucas Birnstingl in the Queens goal was in great form under the guidance of their goalkeeping coacj, James Evans who himself played for the Wasps in goal in the past. In the other semi final Cowdenbeath defeated Morton 2-1, thanks to a last minute goal, taking them through to the final against Queens at Central Park next week.
