    Paul Hartley previews Arbroath game

    Saturday, August 25, 2012 2:57:56 AM

Today I would like to extend a warm welcome to Paul Sheerin, Stewart Petrie, the players, supporters and directors of Arbroath FC as they visit Recreation Park for today’s SFL Irn Bru Division Two match.

Last Saturday we were delighted to return from Cliftonhill with three valuable league points after defeating Albion Rovers 3-0. Some of our football on the day was delightful on not one of the easiest playing surfaces. We scored three really good goals which is good for our strikers, having brought in Robert Thomson on loan from Dundee United until the end of the year, it was good for him to get off the mark with two well taken goals, helped by the work rate of Kevin Cawley with all the unselfish work he puts in, it was a great team performance, my back four were absolutely outstanding and our goalkeeper is rightly being tipped as a top prospect. I have been delighted with our start to the season, we always said we would look to hit the ground running and see where it took us. Today’s game against Arbroath will be a severe test for our team, Arbroath under the management of Paul Sheerin, won the Third Division title two seasons ago and last season finished second in the Second Division behind champions Cowdenbeath. Arbroath have started the season in spectacular scoring form, scoring 16 goals in their opening five competitive games of the season so we know what to expect. We will look to play as we know we can, not changing our style and go out and have a go and see where it takes us, enjoy the game.
