    Paul Hartley previews Clyde game

    Friday, February 24, 2012 6:41:42 PM

I would like to extend a warm welcome to Jim Duffy & Chic Charnley, the players, coaches, supporters and directors of Clyde as they visit Recreation Park for the second time this season.
It is important we get back to winning ways and achieve a good result on the back of two defeats, the disappointing thing last Saturday against Elgin was that we didn’t perform in the way we can, the Berwick Rangers game the previous week we played well but just failed to get the goal that our play deserved, that can happen at some time during the season, we will not be able to win every game – especially having been on such a terrific run, but the main thing is how you reaction and respond to the two bad results. So we are looking forward to today’s game against Clyde, we want to get these last games out of our system but make no mistake this will be another very tough game, every game is difficult, we have already had hard games against Clyde this season. I know Jim Duffy very well and know he is doing a good job at Broadwood, so we know what to expect, we are at home so we will be looking to get a good result – the players are looking forward to the game, they are in good spirits, we are sitting in a good position just now, but we will still look at taking one game at a time, this is where we want to be but it is hard staying there – so we need to make sure we are at our best again today if we want to stay in that position. When you are at the top of the league everybody wants to beat you, so our game plan will be to be patient and keep doing the things that we have been doing for the most of this season, we know we are a good team – the players have been great their attitude has been first class, they are a great bunch to work with and I know they have been hurting from the last two defeats and will be desperate to correct that today, they are desperate to get back out on the park to play, they have a great work ethic, the way they approach games has been terrific. We are under no illusions today’s game will be tough but it is up to us to go and try and win the game and secure another three league points. We will be as positive as always in our approach, we will look to win the game it the only way we would look to play.
Stevie Masterton will return to the squad today after been missing in the past three games having suffered a knee knock, obviously there will be players who will be disappointed by being on the bench but it is a squad game and all I ask is that they are ready when called upon.
Please continue to give us your backing today, it makes a big difference to myself and the players, let’s hope we can give you the result you deserve and we can enjoy a successful outcome.

    Paul Hartley
