It is pleasing to get the victory today, the players certainly responded in the second half with two well taken goals against a very good Brechin City side, the boys have worked hard throughout pre season, we have had a couple of good results but it is more important to get our fitness levels up for the start of the season next week, so we can look forward to the season ahead and put in some good performances, we know we still have a lot of hard work to do. It does no harm winning our pre season games, in the sense that it builds confidence but we don’t look to hard into these results, as I have said before it is more about the shape of the team and building up the teams fitness levels and sharpness but it is still pleasing that we have had good results because it builds confidence.

I asked Iain Flannigan to come in for pre season training because I didn’t see enough of him last season and asked him to prove he is worthy of a contract in the games he has played, and I am now delighted he has agreed to sign the contract which I have offered him, but he needs to keep that standard up every week and grab the jersey as there will be competition for places this season, we don’t have a massive squad but on recent evidence Iain is certainly worthy of his contract.

We are still looking at players and will look to strengthen and add depth to the squad, all teams are looking for strikers and we are certainly no different, just to help the boys up front, but we are still looking at all areas because I think it is good to have competition, a lot of the players who we have tried for have went full-time but at this point a lot of the Premier League clubs are keeping their cards close to their chest, we have spoken to numerous clubs about bringing players in but there is still nothing to report as yet in players that we think could benefit this club, so we will just have to be patient but at the same time we have to keep focused on our budget at all times.
